Hailey Baldwin’s Timeless Style Tip

We applaud style stars who march to the beat of their own drum and look great while doing so—after all, without such trailblazers, we’d end up in a homogeneous fashion blob, wearing the exact same outfits as one another day after day (snooze). Girl-about-town Hailey Baldwin is doing just that by heavily leaning on her specific wardrobe preferences in a number of recent looks. On several occasions in the past few weeks alone, Hailey has been seen stepping out in varying iterations of distressed denim—a choice worth mentioning largely due to the fact that a distressed effect isn’t a big seasonal trend. Not to say the denim style isn’t a fashionable choice: The point is more the frequency with which she’s incorporated it into her looks proves that styles that feel most authentic to one’s personal taste have just as much a place in one’s wardrobe as the season’s hottest trends. Here, we decode Hailey’s approach to finding a closet staple you love and working it into your repertoire. Bottom line—if you love something, wear it often and feel good doing so.

While out shopping with fellow model and cousin Ireland Baldwin, Hailey rocks slouchy boyfriend denim, a muscle tank and ankle-wrap platform sandals. Cuffing the jeans allows the shoe to shine, and tucking in the tank keeps the look from appearing sloppy.

Same concept, new style: Hailey elects to cuff her jeans once again. This time, she accomodates a statement boot by styling her skinnies to sit just above the top of the tongue. A casual tank, bright handbag and topknot finish an ensemble that's mindful of weather (hello, summer heat wave) and comfortable—two factors that make for a truly functional off-duty look.

A striped, 3/4-length top and graphic hat set a casual tone for Hailey's look while out to dinner with Kendall Jenner. Rocking another distressed skinny jean, she opts to tuck this pair into her high-heel booties for a streamlined effect, injecting a bit of polish into an otherwise laid-back ensemble.
