With fourth of July behind us, the next holiday on our calendars is Labor Day, which can only mean one thing: summer is rapidly slipping away. And while a part of us wants to cling to our sundresses and vibrant bikinis, there’s another part of us that’s ready to loosen our grip and reach for the season ahead. Why? Simply put: The coming of fall brings with it a brand new shopping season. And if you’ve been paying attention on recent shopping trips, you’ve probably noticed brands slowly but surely rolling out collections for autumn, including the mother of all fall debuts: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Unlike other stores who offer these fresh finds at regular price, Nordstrom switches things up every year and showcases said finds at crazy low prices for a temporary time period before marking them back up to their normal price points. This genius sale strategy has made the Anniversary sale one of the most highly anticipated shopping events of the year—and it’s safe to say we’ve hopped on this bandwagon.
All that said, we have some good news, bad news and more good news for ya. Good news: If you have a Nordstrom card, you can (and should) start shopping the pre-sale now. The bad news: Us peasants with regular ol’ credit or check cards have to wait until July 20 to get our shop on. More good news: July 20 is literally next week, so you don’t have to wait long to get your hands on the goods. And, in the meantime, you can create a comprehensive shopping list of all of your must-haves for fall. It might be hard to think about cold-weather necessities while the sun is in full force, but taking inventory of your cold-weather essentials now could save you a headache (and money) in the long run. The last thing you want is to realize, mid-October, that you desperately need a shearling coat, and wind up paying full-price for one as a result. Now is the perfect time to check things off your list—the perfect leather jacket you’ve been on the hunt for all year or a seasonal transition piece like suede pumps or a midi dress. You know you need them, so why not scoop them up at 50 to 60 percent off?
To help you out, we’ve compiled some of the pieces from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale that we think are nonnegotiables and practical picks for fall. We’re talking ruffled blouses, cozy sweaters, textured mules, etc. Check them out and start prepping your own wardrobe. Make sure you act fast because these deals are so good, they won’t last long (seriously—the prices go back up on August 5!).
