Chris Benz Unveils His First Collection for Bill Blass

by Cary Spitzer

This week, Bill Blass Group revealed its first collection by new creative director Chris Benz—he of the hot pink hair and Technicolor prints. This is huge news, and not only because we’ve mourned Benz’s eponymous fashion line for way too long. Bill Blass suffered a case of over-licensing and bankruptcy these past 20 years, diluting the magic of its American legacy. The appointment of Benz in November 2014 suggested that the troubled company was ready for a fresh start—and a major makeover. Just how major? The new business plan is e-commerce-only and promises to refresh the stock monthly in order to keep shoppers interested. In terms of design, Bill Blass now boasts a new logo—taken from its founder’s personal stationery—and a cheerful, ’70s-inspired spring collection that is bound to draw serious traffic to BillBlass.com and put that legendary name back on the fashion map for good.

Ready to shop? The new Bill Blass launches November 2, 2015.
