This Bold Trend Is Perfect With Every Pair Of Jeans

Certain trends feel impractical for real life—or you may be intrigued by a look but not sure how to wear it in a way that doesn’t feel silly. Such is the case for high-shine fabrics like patent leather and vinyl, one of fall’s leading trends seen at Saint Laurent, Christopher Kane and Ellery among others.

Wardrobe staples like trench coats, trousers and boots get the glossy treatment, which understandably can feel a bit too edgy for some. That’s why we like them with denim to temper the vixen vibes.

Think about it: What’s cooler than a simple T-shirt and cropped jeans in combination with lustrous burgundy boots? So unexpected. Or shiny stark white pumps enlivening a cool sweater and skinnies? Totally wearable. Take it a step further and try a gleaming pencil skirt with a simple sweater and heeled boots for a fierce but feminine spin. The lesson here: When complemented by subdued textures, these high-wattage pieces can appear as conventional as your trusty leather jacket.

If you’re still unsure, we did the shopping for you. Check out a range of gorgeous patent and vinyl pieces between $56 and $298.
