Our Picks From The Coolest New Store in LA (Literally)

by Sari Anne Tuschman

Thanks to the recent onslaught of cold weather around the country and our upcoming holiday vacations, we have the mountains and skiing on the brain (and hot toddies by the fire, but that’s another story). Thankfully, the recent LA store opening of one of our favorite outdoor brands, Aether, ensures we will be well-equipped and well dressed when we hit the mountain. The brand’s first-ever flagship super store was the brainchild of Paris-based designer Thierry Gaugain and Aether founders Jonah Smith and Palmer West. Their goal? To create the ultimate adventure store. Mission accomplished. The store boasts an actual walk-in freezer (that looks like the interior of a cabin) for gear testing. That way, you’ll never be left out in the cold again when you think your jacket is going to keep you toasty only to be sorely mistaken once the snow starts to fall. And if you can’t get to the new store, just head to Aether’s website for all your outdoor must-haves this winter. Here, a few of our favorite pieces from the new shop—because looking good on the slopes is as important as your skills.
