To fete their fabulous fall collection, L.A.-based line Cleobella joined Team Zoe for a sun-filled day of fun in Malibu. After all, there’s a reason why California girls get entire songs dedicated to them: their signature devil-may-care attitude and low-key vibes are nothing short of awesome. No brand captures SoCal cool quite as well as Cleobella, so it’s really no wonder the guest list was teeming with local tastemakers with killer style to match.
Between sipping on fresh coconut water and trying on Cleobella’s ethereal wares, the attendees spilled their SoCal style essentials and who they consider to be the ultimate Cali girl.
Angela O’Brien - Cleobella Founder
“SoCal style is all about being relaxed and casual – jeans, a white tee and one of our light weight kimonos are a great throw on. It’s really whatever you feel comfortable in.”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Rachel Zoe! She just does any style well.”

Piled-on jewelry -- styled in a medley of unique combinations -- was spotted on many of the guests.
Catherine Sheppard – Blogger, The Life Styled
“Being a New York transplant, I can really appreciate L.A.’s breezy, bohemian aesthetic, so I always try to mix my East Coast roots with SoCal style. A kaftan dress or a dust jacket paired with some ripped up jeans is a good look”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Nicole Richie. She’s always very put together but she’s also down with taking fashion risks.”

We couldn't stop admiring how Catherine styled a glitzy vintage belt with super modern jewelry and accessories.
Ashley Fultz – Blogger, The Style Editrix
“You never know where you’ll end up in L.A. so girls want to wear stuff that will take them from the beach to the city in a snap. You can never go wrong with a skirt, midi-heel and button down -- it’s the ideal combination of comfort and style.”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Kate Bosworth. She wears casual-chic very well.”

A wrist-full of bangles can complement just about every aesthetic.
Zella Day - Musician
“My favorite thing about L.A. is that there isn’t just one thing that defines it. Everyone has such a distinct personality, which in turn dictates style -- and that is a style all by itself!”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Joni Mitchell. She owned the whole Laurel Canyon vibe. “
@zelladay
Zella’s collection of turquoise jewelry comes from her home state of Arizona. One of the rings is her mom’s and the rest are pieces she’s collected over the years from friends and family.
Rachel Barnes - Model
“I was born and raised here and my go-to will always be the kimono. You can pair one with denim shorts, a statement necklace and some booties for day or a night out”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Ally Lopez Eckert from Bikini Bird. She’s technically from Hawaii but everything she wears is effortless and never overdone.”

A vintage-inspired tee is an absolute essential for West Coast dressing.
Kelly Lee - Blogger, Kelly Go Lightly & Sydne Summer - Blogger, Sydne Style
“My style is very Palm Springs – tunics, oversized hats and huge sunglasses” - Kelly
“Maxi dresses and pops of color are pretty essential, as are piles of gold jewelry” - Sydne
The ultimate Cali girl: "Kate Hudson. She's totally effortless, laid back and sporty" - Kelly

Alexa Miller - Photographer
“SoCal style is all about being laid back and comfy. It’s sexy but never trying too hard – think, loose layers and lots of beads.”
The ultimate Cali girl: “Stevie Nicks. She’s the first one that comes too mind.”
