We know her as a judge on Project Runway and author of some of our favorite coffee-table fashion books—now, Nina Garcia is set to lead Elle as editor in chief following Robbie Myers’ exit after nearly 17 years at the helm. Leaving her post as creative director of Marie Claire, Nina is returning to the magazine for which she once served an eight-year stint as fashion director. As EIC, she will report to chief content officer Joanna Coles (of Cosmopolitan fame) and will undoubtedly bring some celebrity to the brand. “Look at the issue of empowerment around young working women and the obsession with fashion and beauty. The Elle woman is sexy, passionate, loves her work, is social. She’s someone global millennial women aspire to, and no one represents that more than Nina,” Joanna said in a New York Times interview. The editor begins her homecoming next Monday.
