What #MuteMonday Is—And Why Everyone Is Talking About It

The hordes of protestors who attended the Women’s March in Washington (or any of the 673 rallies worldwide) are continuing the conversation on Twitter—an integral part of President Donald Trump’s strategy. The hashtag #MuteMonday is an e-movement launched by feminist newsletter Signal Boost that calls on women to unfollow Trump’s personal and official accounts and opt to follow “someone working toward the progress we all still believe in.” Some celebs have already used the platform to take a stand on the issues that matter to them, such as immigration and gender discrimination.

As of this morning, President Trump’s personal account has 21.6 million followers while the @POTUS account has 14.3 million. #MuteMonday hashtaggers are offering suggestions for activists and organizations to follow instead.
