At Large: Runway-To-Street Trends At NYFW

by Maya Washington

At Large is a special-edition series in which Rachel Zoe tasked 3 YouTube stars to attend New York Fashion Week and report back with a story for The Zoe Report. Find out more about the series here.

This is Shameless Maya reporting for my first time here at The Zoe Report. The bustle of New York Fashion Week is no joke! With designers leaving the traditional hubs of Lincoln Center and Milk Studios in favor of more unique venues, shows now happen all over the city. All of that running around translated to a huge street style and runway trend this season: flats. I saw everything from sandals to sneakers, creepers and loafers and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Instead of looking gym-bound, creative styling took flat shoes to the next level. Whether they paired architectural lace cocktail dresses with platform socked sandals or pastel slip-ons with jumpsuits the resulting look was cool and practical. I also noticed a multitude of sheer cutouts and colorful lace, both at the shows and on the streets. Self Portrait juxtaposed feminine silhouettes with cutouts and geometric lace in beautiful, bright pops of color.

So how to translate these two trends to LA? Well thanks to a run-in with the brilliant Dani Song I found my answer! She paired a beautiful sheer lace look with Adidas sneakers for a breezy and totally West Coast-friendly take on the trends. Whether you opt for sneakers too or try sandals with socks or creepers, make sure to follow suit and pair your casual kicks with a feminine ensemble for an on-trend and effortlessly cool look.
