With barely six months to plan their royal wedding at Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are wasting no time between engagement and nuptials. And while they’re clearly crazy in love, the reason behind the couple’s intimate venue and hurried timing is actually even more heartrending than their romance. Turns out, Harry wanted a place close to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip as well as a schedule that will allow his aging grandfather to make an appearance at the ceremony. “One of the reasons Prince Harry has wanted this wedding to happen quite quickly—this is really whirlwind by royal standards—is because his 96-year-old grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, is retired now, and Prince Harry really wants him to be at his wedding,” royal expert Kate Nicholl confirmed to Entertainment Tonight. “He’s incredibly close to his grandfather. Harry thought it was a great thing to [have] the wedding sooner rather than later so his grandfather could be there, fit and healthy.” We’re not crying—you’re crying.
