This Is What Michelle Obama Plans To Do When She Leaves The White House
After gracefully serving as our FLOTUS for the past eight years, Michelle Obama is leaving the White House with quite a legacy. She’s become a champion for women’s rights, improved access to healthier meals across the country, and solidified her status as one of the most fashionable First Ladies in history. And as she prepares for the next chapter in her life, ever-supportive husband President Barack Obama has revealed the first step in their family’s path to semi-normalcy.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the president said he’d first “take my wife on a well-deserved vacation.” But knowing the powerhouse that she is, we bet it won’t be long before Michelle is back in action. And according to longtime Deputy Chief of Staff Melissa Winter, she just might be releasing a book (or books!) as she continues advocating for young girls’ education and solving the epidemic of childhood obesity.
“I think she’d be a wonderful children’s book author,” Melissa told The Washington Post. “We haven’t set up a process for that, [but] down the line it would be a natural way to exhale from an experience like this.”
However, Michelle will be taking that break before getting to work with staff at an office space in Washington, D.C. (The Obamas have made the rare decision to stay in the capital while youngest daughter Sasha finishes high school.)
“I really think the most important thing is to give her time to breathe and get acclimated to being a private citizen again, knowing that she doesn’t have to tell people where she’s going to go, and we don’t have to put out an advisory if she’s going to go walk around a museum,” Melissa said.
We’re going to miss her as our First Lady.
