Kim Kardashian Has Something To Say To The Wall Street Journal

by Samantha McDonald

Five months ago, The Wall Street Journal published a full-page ad from a group denying the Armenian genocide. Now Kim Kardashian West is fighting fire with fire, blasting the newspaper through an ad of her own in Saturday’s issue of The New York Times. Under the headline “#STRAIGHTUP Genocide Denial Cannot Be Allowed,” the reality star attacked those who refute that a massacre led by the Turkish government began in April 1915 and cost 1.5 million Armenian lives.

“My family and I are no strangers to BS in the press,” Kim wrote. “We’ve learned to brush it off. Lies make good headlines, good headlines make great covers, great covers sell magazines. But when I heard about this full-page ad that ran in the Wall Street Journal denying the Armenian genocide, I couldn’t just brush it off.”

Kim, who is of Armenian descent, unsuccessfully urged the US government last year to recognize the genocide on its 100th anniversary. She remains a strong advocate for the tragedy, even visiting Armenia and a memorial for the massacre on her reality TV series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
