Amid her current legal battles, Kesha has received an outpouring of support from celebrity pals and fans on social media, but it seems even she’s not immune to Internet trolls. Getting in front of any negativity that might ensue, she captioned a recent poolside bikini photo: “not a slave to perfection right now. f*** it. ***body shamers please f*** off ain’t nobody got time for it.” You tell ’em, girl. The pop star has emerged a champion for body positivity over the years after coming clean about her own personal struggles—in a 2015 interview with Vogue, she told the magazine, “Now, I’m trying to embrace the skin I’m in. It’s difficult sometimes. Every day I have to look in the mirror and make the choice to be kind to myself…Part of being healthy is being positive. I don’t pay attention to the Internet or bloggers.”
It seems not much has changed; Kesha is still sending a proverbial middle finger to people online who have anything negative to say about her body. With this recent post and her ongoing strength and persistence navigating a very tricky (and public) lawsuit, we think she’s sending a strong message to her fellow females to never be afraid to stand up for yourself.
