High Gloss Eye Makeup

Looking for something bold-yet-wearable to shake up your beauty routine? Meet our new obsession for nighttime parties: high gloss eye makeup. The look has a gorgeous, old Hollywood feel and can be applied using products you probably already have in your medicine cabinet. Here, beauty guru Joey Maalouf demonstrates how to achieve two different versions of the trend on Team Zoe staffer, Kendall Cohan.

Glossy Eye Makeup: Dark And Smoky

The Look

For a new take on smoky eye makeup add glossy shine to dark eye shadow and definition to brows while leaving the rest of the face fresh and ultra-hydrated.

Joey's Tip

When using dark colors and glossy textures on eyelids, build the look up gradually. This will help you control the amount of color and shine, while allowing each layer to properly set for all-night wear.

"I love to have fun and experiment with different hair and makeup trends. For me, it's important to highlight one feature at a time and keep the rest simple - commit to either bold lips or statement eyes." --Kendall Cohan

Glossy Eye Makeup: Light And Luminous

The Look

For a softer, more feminine take on high gloss eyes, swipe a sheer silver shadow over lids, from lash line to the bottom of brows. Finish the look with dewy skin and major black lashes.

Joey's Tip

Rely less on petroleum jelly to create shine by using an already-glossy eye makeup product on lids, like this cream shadow pot from MAC. For all-over shimmer, apply a bit of the silver shadow to cheekbones as well.
