A Diana Ross-Inspired Beauty Look To Try Tonight

Is there anything more glamorous than big, brushed-out waves and super-long lashes? Conjure Diana Ross and the disco era on your next night out with this surprisingly simple beauty look. Our resident hair and makeup guru Joey Maalouf shows you how to recreate it in just a few very doable steps.

Get The Look

Step 1: Glowy Skin

Create a flawless complexion by perfecting skin with a light liquid foundation, blending evenly with a sponge. To set the look, dust an illuminating powder along cheekbones, temples and forehead. For a gorgeous, healthy-looking shine, use fingers to dab a little bit of gloss along cheekbones and eyelids.

Step 2: Major Lashes

Skip heavy layers of mascara and opt for a pair of falsies instead (so much easier in hot weather). Joey's tip: use the flat side of a pair of tweezers and press down on the lashes while the glue is drying to set and secure. Be sure to trim the lashes to fit your eye shape before applying them and pick a pair that's not too full or long for a more natural look. To open the eyes, add bright white liner to the waterline along the top and bottom lashes.

Step 3: Pale Pink Lips

Pale pink lipstick adds the right amount of color to this look, without competing too much with the hair or lashes. For a night out, an oversize lip crayon will pack a punch of color and can be applied without a mirror. We adore Nars' lip crayons for their range of shades; this almost-white, opaque pink is so spot-on.

Step 4: Brushed-Out Waves

Work with your natural hair texture to get hair into allover waves. Whether you air dry your hair or use a curling rod to create waves, curls should be small and defined. Consider using a volumizing mousse on damp strands for added lift and shape. Now comes the fun part: brush out curls using a fine, natural bristle brush, teasing the under sections for even more volume. Finish with flexible hold hair spray.

The Final Look

Fabulous and fresh in every way, we can't get enough of this hair and makeup look. Agree completely but not sure when to take it for a test run? Try it with streamlined separates for a cool contrast that will keep things from veering into costume territory. A strappy high-heel sandal and cool box clutch will seal the deal.
