For The Zoe Report's fall fashion issue, TZR editors are sharing the Fall/Winter 2019 pieces they’re most excited to welcome into their wardrobes. For deputy editor Angela Melero, that includes a few key pieces that vibe with her colorful personal style — plus a shearling coat that's as cozy as they come.

Since I was a little girl, I've gravitated toward colorful, whimsical clothing. My childhood closet was packed with lace, floral print dresses, shimmery blouses, and neon footwear. I always wanted my clothing to be a reflection of my personality, not to mention a nice pick-me-up from the mundane aspects of my day-to-day. I'm happy to report that at 33 years old, nothing much has changed. As a grown woman with her own bank account and sartorial know-how, I still channel that little girl in hot pink overalls in that I stick to vibrant pieces. I will say that I've tailored my preferences to feel a bit more grown-up and versatile.

The fall and winter seasons have always been my favorite times of year in that there's a particular magic surrounding them. In addition to the holidays, the colder months bring an almost fantasy-like quality that translates nicely to my wardrobe. I love the process of shopping for a new shearling coat (which is mainly for show, since it barely dips below 70 degrees here in LA), dainty, frilly cardigans, and whimsical dresses with some dramatic flair.

This coming season's offerings of my aforementioned favorites are making me downright giddy. Despite the dreary temps ahead, color and texture are as vibrant as ever, with trendy neon shades of yellow, fuchsia, and pistachio taking over the fall color palettes, and fuzzy, cozy fabrics serving as the perfect backdrop. To give you a preview of what my closet will be looking like for the next three months, here are the five pieces I'm investing in for fall.

Isabel Marant Coat

Despite the fact that I live in always-sunny Los Angeles, I try to invest in a cozy jacket every fall/winter season. This year, I'm all about the teddy bear coat, as it's appealing from both a practicality standpoint (should temps dip below 60 degrees, or I head to a snowy climate) and a trendy one.

Ulla Johnson Dress

Fuchsia is the shade for fall, and it seems the brighter the hue, the better. I love that this Ulla Johnson piece features two rich shades of pink for a bold effect that still feels very fall. (I plan on offsetting the shade with some equally trendy white knee boots.)

LOVESHACKFANCY Sweater

My closet consists of a vast amount of white or beige tops, which clearly I can never have enough of. In the colder months, this neutral obsession translates to cream or ivory sweaters. I love the dainty details on this cardigan that reads very vintage.

Gianvito Rossi Boots

A beige, slouchy pair of knee boots like these from Gianvito Rossi are a wear-with-everything staple for me, as I can slip them on over jeans or trousers, or layer them under my fave cold-weather frocks.

These silk pants from Staud take the pumpkin spice movement to chic new levels — and I'm here for it.
