5 Fall Pieces That Will Look Right At Home In My Minimalist Wardrobe

For The Zoe Report's fall fashion issue, TZR editors are sharing the Fall/Winter 2019 pieces they’re most excited to welcome into their wardrobes. Site director Lauren Caruso's top picks include a leather belted trench, the coziest sweater, and an updated take on the classic loafer.

My official style tagline is that I'm a trend-curious minimalist. While I gravitate toward neutral colors in simple silhouettes, I appreciate a fun, trend-forward hemline or a subtle detail that feels particularly fresh. My style has evolved tenfold over the last decade, and though my love of neutrals has remained consistent, what I look for in a garment has iterated in recent years: I try to stay away from fast-fashion, and instead, I prefer to invest in timeless basics. That way, I can mix and match most pieces in my closet, and I end up with a "collection" feel to my wardrobe.

This notion is doubly true for fall: Certain pieces, like a chunky sweater or an oversized blazer, require more heft for them to feel good. I would rather put my money toward picking the right pieces than trendy items that'll feel tired by the time the season's over.

Loewe Jacket

Loewe was founded upon pristine leather craftsmanship, and this jacket from the Fall/Winter 2019 collection feels both timeless and of-the-moment all at once.

JW Anderson Sweater

The deconstructed trend is one I've been particularly excited about for fall, and this chunky, so-cozy sweater from JW Anderson is the ultimate example.

Bottega Veneta Dress

I've been so impressed with Daniel Lee's inaugural collection for Bottega, which displayed the perfect mix of classic and modern. This two-tone wrap dress really drives that point home.

Prada Bag

I bought this bag while I was in Copenhagen in the brown and black colorway, and I've probably worn it every day since. It might seem silly to buy the same bag in two different colors, but I love this silhouette enough that it's worth doubling up.

Cedric Charlier Loafers

Last season's chunky sneaker trend gave way to the chunky sandal trend, and now we've moved onto the chunky loafer trend. I love the Prada iteration that is leading the pack, but these Mary Janes from Cedric Charlier feel a bit more unique.
