There’s something about monochromatic outfits that feel really elevated. Combine that with a chic neutral hue and you’ve got an instantly polished ensemble that’ll work for just about any occasion. And while this type of dressing could typically lean towards the light tones of beige, cream, and white (or in the other direction of classic black) if you’re hoping to have a more unexpected approach to your look, take a cue from Selena Gomez’s brown suit and go for a warm chestnut brown shade instead.
Without a doubt, Gomez has gracefully reached style icon status. From her early appearances as a young actor to her more recent red carpet moments, the “Rare” singer has donned such a wide range of looks that she’s firmly cemented herself in the position of a true fashion chameleon.
Gomez has been on the move promoting her upcoming album Rare as well as her film, Dolittle. And with all the many looks that come with press tours and red carpets, she made a strong case for wearing brown as the new black. On Jan. 13. the star headed to the taping for Live with Kelly and Ryan wearing a head-to-toe brown ensemble featuring a suit by GAUGE81 along with a knit top from Victor Glemaud. And just as you would expect with any outfit coming from Gomez and her stylist Kate Young, it was undeniably chic.
Keeping right in line with the sleek, minimalist appeal of her monochromatic ensemble, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer wore the simple $95 Ora Hoops from Jenny Bird. Gomez finished off her look with the $513 Gloria Glam Heel Boots by Korean designer Yuul Yie. And while the full ensemble was certainly stunning, it was her croc-effect shoes that added the perfect touch of texture.
The design-forward shoes (which touch on one of the biggest on-going trends in fashion at the moment) feature a unique pyramid heel along with a silver chrome sphere. And if you’re looking for an unexpected ankle boot to add into your footwear this season, Gomez's pair is a great place to start.
