Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Striped Trench Coat Is Proof That Outerwear Can Look Cozy

Share

It's officially the season of trench coats, as spring weather calls for more lightweight outerwear. Every celeb, or so it seems at least, has sported their own unique take on the ever-popular trend as of late, whether that's Diane Keaton's leather situation or Priyanka Chopra's snakeskin version. It's Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s striped trench coat, though, that proves to be one of the freshest spins on the wardrobe staple. It might not be the most suitable for April showers, but it's certainly the perfect pick for a sunny spring day.

On Mon., Huntington-Whiteley shared a peek at her latest ensemble and it truly was the epitome of loungewear chic. The model's covetable off-duty getup consisted of striped wide-leg pants by BCBGMAXAZRIA, which effortlessly married elements of your favorite pajamas — i.e., a swingy silhouette and a comfy, lightweight material — with that of classic office trousers (read: a refined waistband and a concealed zipper). In other words, they're ideal for work and play.

Though Huntington-Whiteley could have easily paired the pajama-inspired bottoms with a basic white tee, she chose to team them with a coordinating trench coat, also by the brand. Much like the wide-leg pants, the model's striped top layer is rendered in a delicate, flowy fabric. Further playing off of loungewear elements, the swingy and über-comfy trench features an adjustable waist belt, stylish wrist ties, and notched lapels.

Huntington-Whiteley slipped into a pair of white heels, which subtly peaked out from underneath her billowy bottoms, and accessorized with dainty pearl earrings. As for her hair and makeup? Equally as effortless as her loungewear-inspired look.

There's so much to learn from the model's most recent off-duty look, but perhaps the most important takeaway is the fact that trench coats — which can oftentimes feel stiff, especially when rendered in a water-resistant PVC material — can be casual and cozy, too. You just have to pick one that's cut in an airy fabric, like satin or silk.
