Jennifer Lopez Has Officially Perfected The Art Of The High Ponytail
After decades of trying out different hairstyles, it's safe to say that Jennifer Lopez has mastered the high ponytail once and for all. She turned up to Sirius Radio on Weds. in a smart pantsuit with poker-straight hair cascading from her crown. As complicated as it may look, the singer's sleek updo isn't all that difficult to recreate.
The old-school high ponytail was all the rage when Lopez first came into fame in the '90s. You probably remember seeing just about every celebrity sporting the slicked-back style in those days (in fact, you likely wore it yourself), but then the high pony slipped back into the archives for a while.
Modern-day fashion icons like Bella Hadid and Ariana Grande have brought "cheerleader hair" back into style lately, but nobody knows their way around a high pony like J. Lo.
The bride-to-be went out in New York City wearing a trendy spin on a classic black suit, featuring a cropped blazer, flared pants, and zip-front booties. The long, sleek updo Lopez sported proved yet again that she is, indeed, the high-pony queen.
Slicked back and held together with a hair-wrapped elastic at the tippy-top of her head, the singer's ponytail was super-straight, shiny, and looked like it could reach the sky.
The Second Act actor was one of the first to coin the look decades ago and just recently wore it again in her 2017 music video for Amor, Amor, Amor. Now, years after Lopez, Beyonce, and Topanga Lawrence first brought the look to life, the likes of Hailey Baldwin and Chrissy Teigen have added the high pony to their everyday hairstyle lineup.
Clearly, it looks just as good with J. Lo's business suit as it does with Hadid's edgy street-style looks. And not only is the glossy high pony so very versatile, it's also surprisingly easy to copy. Get Lopez's ponytail with five of The Zoe Report's favorite hair products, ahead.
