An impressive range of awe-inspiring women of color gathered in New Orleans over the weekend — sharing words of wisdom, career tips, and top-notch style moments at the 25th annual Essence Festival. Former FLOTUS and style icon Michelle Obama was in attendance, and sat down with CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King for an in-depth interview on a range of topics — from meeting Barack, to raising their daughters in the White House, to the upcoming primary election. Aside from her vivacious spirit, Michelle Obama's sequined jumpsuit lit up the room — becoming the latest stunning look to be added to the 55-year-old's roster of winning fashion moments.

Since departing from her political perch as First Lady, the mother-of-two has seriously amped up her style, opting for daring pieces like those thigh-high Balenciaga glitter boots that dominated the stage on the Becoming tour. Further proving her capacity to pull off a healthy dose of sparkle, the Chicago native looked fantastic in the wide-leg sequined Sergio Hudson jumpsuit — proving sequins aren't reserved for the holidays alone. With her honey blonde curls contrasting the midnight blue number, the author and activist topped the look off with large silver hoops, a smokey eye and glossy lips.

The Princeton alumna isn't the only tastemaker opting for a glitzy finish this summer. Gigi Hadid rocked a pair of sequin-adorned Burberry slacks at the Vogue party during Paris Couture Week, and Yara Shahidi paired a sky blue sequined skirt with knitwear at the BET Awards last month. The luxurious embellishment adds instant elegance and sophistication for a nighttime affair, and stands as a sound option year-round. Shop The Zoe Report's selection of sequined options inspired by Obama's enchanting look, ahead.
