Chunky sneakers and sequined dresses are quickly becoming Tracee Ellis Ross' favorite combination. Four times now, the Black-ish actor has paired her sparkly outfits with sporty footwear, including during one of Sun. evening's post-Oscars parties. If you're looking to add some life to your own wardrobe, consider learning how to wear a dress with sneakers the Tracee Ellis Ross way.

You might have seen the fiery one-shoulder gown Ross wore to the celeb-studded Vanity Fair Oscars pre-party over the weekend, but did you see the glitzy ensemble she changed into for the after party? Ross paired a full-length sequin gown with Nike high tops in the most interesting way.

The actor joined the likes of Rihanna, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Natalie Portman at Beyoncé and Jay Z's post-Oscars Gold Party at Chateau Marmont on Sun. She obviously took the gold theme very seriously, wearing a sparkly metallic gold-and-silver gown by Rachel Comey. The dress, part of the designer's Pre-Fall 2019 collection, features long sleeves and fringe along the hem, which highlighted Ross' bold sneaker shoe choice perfectly.

The actor posted a picture of herself in the outfit on Instagram, popping a foot to show off her gold-accented Nike trainers. The high tops were black and white with a touch of metallic, matching Ross' glitzy gown.

Ross is clearly obsessed with the sneaker-sequin combination, having worn the two together on several occasions before. Her New Year's Eve outfit consisted of almost the same exact Nike sneakers in orange, matching a full-length sequin gown so similar to the one she wore on Sun.

Then, on Jan. 5, she payed tribute to the ladies in congress with an all-white sequin suit paired with white-and-red tennis shoes.

Ross is a fearless dresser, but these looks don't have to be so bold. An athletic shoe is the perfect pick for balancing out your ultra-glam outfits. Try the trend with these combinations, picked by The Zoe Report, ahead.
