You can count on Hilary Duff to sport the most elegant, grownup-approved crop top ever. The actor just stepped up her jeans-and-sweater game with '70s-style flared denim and an elevated slouchy pullover. Hilary Duff's cropped sweater makes loungewear look like a fashion statement.

The former Disney actor went out to lunch in Studio City on Mon. wearing a cozy-yet-stylish ensemble of light-wash jeans and a crop top. Her pants, high-waisted and slightly flared, featured frayed hems that framed a pair of lust-worthy nude ankle boots by Gianvito Rossi.

Flung over her shoulder was a camel-colored carry-all tote by Clare V., but the real MVP of the outfit was undoubtedly her sky-blue slouchy sweater. A 3.1 Phillip Lim design, the wool and yak-blend knit features a ribbed V-neck collar and tonal stitching. Its dropped shoulders, extra-roomy balloon sleeves, and cropped hem lend to an enviable loose and flowy fit that's perfect for casual cold-weather outings.

Duff even complemented the look with a bright-red lip and matching aqua-hued nails. Altogether, the blue motif created a casual, seemingly accidental take on the latest monochromatic trend.

Now, the crop top often gets a bad rap for being too youthful, but before you cast it off completely, remember that this trend doesn't discriminate. You could even incorporate a crop into your work wardrobe, depending on the level of formality in your office dress code.
