Another day, another Emma Roberts hair switch-up. On Mon., the American Horror Story star hit up her go-to salon, Nine Zero One, crossing over to the dark side for the latest season of Ryan Murphy's FX series, which is set in 1984. Opting for a historically accurate deep auburn hue and a mid-length blunt cut courtesy of Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri, the 28-year-old looked fresh as she strutted through West Hollywood, but it was Emma Roberts' chunky cardigan that made the look still feel so her.

Though the actor hails from Rhinebeck, NY, a small town north of New York City, she's a major proponent for laid-back, LA-chic street style. Aside from the rare beguiling red carpet moment like that jaw-dropping Giambattista Valli gown at the 2019 Met Gala, Roberts generally maintains a relaxed, undone vibe that reads so West Coast.

Staying true to distressed denim, statement booties, and a good band tee — Roberts sticks with the cool girl basics, including the classic cardigan. This cream-colored cable knit style from the Re/Done x Attico collaboration was serving a welcomed dose of granny vibes, thanks to its chunky texture and decorative buttons.

Roberts is yet another tastemaker to prove the retro layering piece isn't going anywhere in 2019. Several models revert to the knitwear staple regularly, including Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid, to name a few. Similar to Roberts' chunky, oversized pick that borders on ironic, 17-year-old Kaia Gerber has even opted for a plaid sweater your grandpa likely wears when he plays golf — and she made it look so cool, obviously.

In the spirit of keeping the granny vibe going for as long as possible, The Zoe Report rounded up retro-inspired styles that are perfect for layering on cool summer nights, ahead.
