Emily Blunt's Plaid Pants Are So Good They Sold Out In An Hour
It's officially pants season. Soon, you'll barely be able to leave the house without a full winter suit on, but Emily Blunt's plaid pants will keep you warm just the same. Say goodbye to your airy destroyed denim for now and make way for this cold-weather staple instead.
The A Quiet Place actor sported head-to-toe tartan during an outing in New York City on Mon. evening. Blunt appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote her new movie, Mary Poppins Returns, ahead of its Fri. release date, and wore the most winter-friendly look while doing it.
Pairing a cropped argyle sweater over her plaid, wide-leg pants, the 35-year-old stuck with a warm color palette of rich green, black, and royal blue throughout. The wool-blend Michael Kors trousers she wore feature front pleats that give their slightly flared bottoms more structure.
The designer debuted the pants on the Fall/Winter 2018 runway with a contrasting red tartan blazer, but Blunt opted for a matchy-match motif instead. She draped a long emerald green coat over her shoulders for warmth in the perfectly wintery look. These ultra-warm bottoms are the key to keeping snug and looking stylish at the same time.
Plaid has long been a cold-weather print, but it seems to be coming back with a vengeance lately. Kate Middleton, for instance, just wore a festive midi skirt to a holiday party at Kensington Palace and Hailey Baldwin sported the trend full-force with a two-piece plaid suit set.
This winter, tweed, corduroy, and wool are the best (and most on-trend) materials to battle the plunging temps in, so swap out that LBD for something a little cozier — but no less chic — instead. Blunt's plaid pants are so popular they sold out within an hour of her wearing them, but, lucky for you, there are plenty of alternatives to fulfill your tartan trouser needs. Ahead are some of The Zoe Report's favorites.
