Red carpet events are a prime time to scout out the latest in formalwear trends. Whether your favorite celebrity opts for a unusual look like a menswear-inspired suit or an old classic like a glamorous gown, you know they're pulling out all the stops when it comes to walking the red carpet. With its soft tone and ultra-unique embellishments, you're going to want to add Dakota Johnson's blue gown to your ever-growing list of outfit inspiration.

The 29-year-old headed to Morocco on Sat. to attend the 17th Marrakech International Film Festival and act as a juror on the festival's panel. She's been wearing gorgeous Gucci gowns all week long, but looked extra-dreamy at the festival's closing ceremony on Dec. 8. The actor donned a floor-length satin gown by Gucci in an icy-blue tone, featuring a plunging neckline, a black belted waist, and a flowing skirt with a subtle train.

And just when you think the look couldn't get anymore amazing, the back of Johnson's gown came complete with intricate jeweled embellishments, including a red heart and glittery silver arrows extending to the floor.

As if Johnson didn't already look like royalty, the actor wore her hair in extra-glossy undone waves, giving off the ultimate Old Hollywood vibe. To complete the ensemble, she kept her makeup routine simple with radiant skin, rosy cheeks, fluffy lashes, and soft, nude lips.

Johnson is no stranger to unusual red carpet ensembles, especially super-romantic pieces with just a hint of playfulness. She recently nailed talk-show appearance style when she wore a sophisticated black jumpsuit with a single lace sleeve and a draped belt. She even brought back heart-shaped jewelry in the most elegant way by adding a pair of sweet heart earrings to a sequined movie-premiere look. Wherever Johnson is headed, style that's equal parts polished and whimsical is bound to follow.

Powder blue may not seem like the most winter-appropriate color, but the icy tone is actually perfect for the season. Keep it simple by adding a neutral faux-fur coat on top of a pale-blue dress, or make like Johnson and opt for stylish maximalism in the form of sparkling bold details.

If a Gucci gown seems far-fetched, you'll definitely want to explore the following selection of handpicked Johnson-inspired gowns. Go subtle with a satin slip dress, or opt for a bold, embroidered lace number. Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's favorite icy-blue dresses for your next formal event.
