This Maximalist Jewelry Trend Will Be Big For Fall
When it comes to adding pizzazz and personality to your ensembles, jewelry is typically the go-to addition to make your look feel fresh and unique. And just like all fashion trends, accessories go in cycles from minimal, dainty pieces, to over-the-top gems. That said, lately, colorful statement jewelry has been the trend du jour for the fashion set, taking over their hearts (and ears). "It's joyful and feminine, I believe we are really celebrating women at the moment in an ultra-feminine way ... bows, frills, and sparkles," says Cora Thomas, founder of Corita jewelry, to TZR.
Though these vivid baubles may seem to be more of a summer must-have, there's no need to stow them away just yet. "I think you'll see a lot of colorful pieces heading into fall but in more jewel tones like a deep red, purple, or green," Thomas notes. "We're introducing jade into our Fall collection — that's a special and versatile stone."
And while quirky, vibrant gems might seem like stand-alone options, they are surprisingly easy to mix and match with other trendy items this upcoming season. "For fall, I would style these pieces with chunky chain necklaces and gold hoops to make the look more grungy," Ayah Tabari, founder of Dubai-based All Things Mochi, tells TZR.
Eager to try out a vivid statement piece for yourself? Ahead, four jewelry designers that should be on your radar, all of which have perfected the art of splashy, playful jewelry.
All Things Mochi
With just a quick scroll through the jewelry segment on All Things Mochi's website, you'll find quirky pieces embellished with on-trend seashells and colorful fruit. "The Spring/Summer 2020 collection was inspired by the Philippines, celebrating the culture through traditional embroidery, opulent colors, and handcrafted clothing," Tabari explains. "Like the fruit trend, I also think the seashell trend is a result of wanting to feel close to nature. I think [it] will remain popular as the seashell is a symbol of the ocean, which resembles a feeling of calmness."
Corita
Based in sunny Los Angeles, Corita includes eye-catching pieces like fun tassels and romantic heart shapes, each intended to add a whimsy touch to your lineup. "I wanted to create jewelry that was colorful, classic, and feminine," Thomas emphasizes. "Each collection is meant to make you smile and to not be taken too seriously." And for those who want to dip their toes into the bold trend, Thomas recommends trying The Mambos Tassel Earrings. "People can often be turned off by big earrings because of their weight, so I wanted to make sure ours were as light as possible," Thomas notes.
Susan Alexandra
The New York-based designer is best known for its drool-worthy, Instagrammable beaded handbags, but its jewelry is becoming just as sought-after in the fashion scene. In its offerings you'll find embellishments similar to the iconic handbags; vibrant earrings and necklaces that include fruits like watermelons and grapes. And if you're a bit shy to the produce movement, the brand's colorful beaded hoops are a great alternative option for livening up your outfit.
Sandralexandra
If you've ever dreamed of wearing your favorite veggies around your neck or on your lobes, this London-based label is the answer to your wishes. In the collection you'll find more toned-down statement pieces, that are still buzzing with personality (think dainty chili peppers and mini bushels of fruit). The emerging designer is quickly becoming a go-to for It-girls, and that could be due to the manner in which the brand launched. "I started Sandralexandra six months ago solely via my Instagram page," the designer told Forbes back in May 2019. "I still don’t have a website so people can only get in touch via DM or clicking the 'email' button on my Instagram profile." Tempted? Send her a message ASAP.
