There's no denying that 2019 has been the year of reinventing and reimagining wardrobe staples. Designers continue to churn out one fresh fashion take after the other, whether that's finding a new, more trend-forward way to wear tie-dye or adding unexpected cut-out detailing to refined blazer silhouettes. But no classic has been quite as reworked as a tried-and-true white button-down — and Chloë Sevigny is the latest celeb to rock a non-boring take on the closet essential.

Sevigny, New York City's perennial cool girl, has been taking Cannes by storm this year, dishing out one killer look after the other. But then again, did you really expect anything else from the fashion icon? When the model isn't gliding down the red carpet in bold minis, she's busy turning the French streets into her personal runway, as she struts from one star-studded affair to another.

Just a few hours prior to slipping into a sparkly Miu Miu dress on May 20 — which she wore to the glamorous Trophee Chopard dinner — Sevigny stepped out in one of her best off-duty looks of the month. Her street-style getup incorporated three closet staples: medium-wash jeans, a navy blazer, and a white button-down, the latter of which deserves your full attention right away.

Leave it to Sevigny to find the coolest take on a traditionally straight-edge item. Although the model's button-down hit on many classic design components (read: a crisp fabric, a sharp collar, and a button-down front), it felt anything but boring, thanks to the cropped silhouette, the corset detailing, and the slightly oversized sleeves.

Ready to rock a reimagined take on a classic button-down? Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up the coolest tops on the market, all of which would definitely earn Sevigny's stamp of approval.
