Allison Williams Ditched Her Chestnut Hair For A Brighter, Blonder Hue

After swearing she would never bid adieu to her natural brunette again, Allison Williams' blonde hair is back (and it's even better than before). The Girls actor just debuted a new dye job on Instagram after a year-long run with her natural shade. And although she seems to be sad to say goodbye to her chestnut hair, she can't deny that she makes a darn good blonde.

Williams' latest Instagram selfie shows that she's once again traded her signature dark-brown hair for a lighter hue. She posted the photo on Mon. with a bittersweet caption. "I swore I wouldn't do this to my hair again ... but new movie, new hair," she wrote. "Back to blonde and back to work."

Her half-smile is proof that the actor wasn't really ready for the drastic change, but you know what they say: duty calls. The first time she debuted blonde hair, on the cover of Allure in Feb. 2017, was a symbolic goodbye to her Girls character, Marnie. Two months in, Williams told James Corden on The Late Late Show that being a blonde was "exhausting."

"For all of you who have dyed hair, you are heroes. This is exhausting — who knew?" she said during her talk show appearance. "There's so much maintenance! It's a whole thing."

Needless to say, the A Series of Unfortunate Events actor was relieved when she went back to her natural chestnut shade in Dec. 2017. She posted a fresh-from-the-salon selfie then with the caption, "blonde was fun, but I've got to say that I'm happy to be back."

Now, a year later, she's freeing up her schedule to maintain yet another dramatic dye job. It's unclear whether Rebekah Forecast of Serge Normant Salon and Aura Friedman of Sally Hershberger Salon, who dyed her hair the first time, are behind the latest makeover, too.

Either way, the new blonde hue is certainly different than the last. Unlike the platinum color Williams started with, this version is a softer look, with warm, golden undertones. It's the perfect introduction to blonde for dark brunettes.

Whether or not Williams is happy about the change, the actor has proven (twice now!) that she can rock blonde just as well as her natural brunette. If you're loving her new look, bring out the gold tones in your hair with these The Zoe Report-approved blonde-hair products, ahead.
