Here's How Gabriela Hearst Is Using Her Cult Bags To Help Save Children In Yemen
If there’s one thing that everyone can agree on during the holiday shopping season, it’s that nothing feels as good as getting gifts that give back. Sure, there are always those specific gifts that someone’s been dreaming about for the past year. However, you can never go wrong with a present that holds an opportunity to help those in need — even in its smallest forms. And when you add that to an ultra-chic and timeless piece, like anything from Gabriela Hearst, it only gets better.
In the spirit of giving, the New York-based brand will be donating 100 percent of its net proceeds made from now until Dec. 9 to Save the Children, which will support child nutrition and relief efforts in Yemen. Everything on its website, as well as in the flagship stores in New York and London, will be available as part of the initiative. And yes, that includes the designer’s cult-favorite handbags — which are usually only available by request.
Moved by Yemen’s war-torn status, which has left an estimated 17,000 children at risk of acute malnutrition, the designer felt the need to turn the focus towards the issue by creating this initiative with the organization. “Save the Children is one of the largest non-profit organizations on the ground in Yemen,” the Hearst shared in a press release. “The humanitarian crisis has fallen out of media discourse, given the speed of our current news state. The catastrophe needs as much help as possible.”
With the additional support form Gabriela Hearst, Save the Children is providing food, cash vouchers, critical healthcare services, education, and protection to the children and families affected by the crisis in Yemen.
If you’re looking for something unique, stylish, and meaningful to buy during these days, opt for something from Gabriela Hearst’s collection like the $2,750 Diana Bag, which will add a major statement to any ensemble. Another sleek handbag option is luxurious Nina Bag, $2,250. Pair it with the $1,390 Bocca for an undeniably cool, essential winter look.
Of course, the brand’s initiative with Save the Children doesn’t stop at accessories. Update your wardrobe with the classic Erella Pleated Shirt Dress, which is available for $3990. You can also invest in the $3,700 Wesley Skirt for an unexpected take on the pleated midi skirt. If you need an extra layer to combat the cold, wear the $4,500 Francis Stitched Runa is the perfect piece to throw on over your shoulders. And for those special occasions coming up, wear the $1,690 Josefina Dress with a simple pair of heels and you’re set for the night.
