24 Summer Beauty Products Editors Still Use In The Fall (And Maybe Winter, Too)
Hate to break it to you fine people, but summer days are officially drifting away. But just because warm weather is ending doesn't mean the fun has to stop. There were some highly-effective summer beauty products to drop over the last few months, including lightweight serums and bright neon lipsticks and eyeliners. Despite the drops, our season-less cult faves always manage to remerge around Memorial Day.
With the transition from hot to cool, it's always important to switch to heavier skin care and hair care products that provide a barrier against the colder, drier wind. This doesn't mean that you have to overhaul your entire vanity, though. "I tend to opt for things that are super versatile," Siraad Dirshe, beauty editor at Essence, tells TZR. "I'll be changing up a few things, but several products that I use now will be used this fall, too."
So before you scrap everything in your makeup bag, check out these picks from some of our favorite beauty editors in the industry who've sampled just about every product at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Barneys, and Dermstore, combined. Besides, you'll be needing that cash for a fabulous new pair of slouchy boots, anyway.

"Colder months call for heavier butters and creams, so this summer, I loved being able to just spritz this in my hair and go. It leaves my hair feeling moisturized and plays well with other products when layered, so it's definitely a keeper for fall and beyond."
"I consider myself a gloss aficionado, so I'm super picky when it comes to what I'll put on my lips. My favorite gloss right now is definitely the Essence Shine Shine Shine — it's $3, comes in great shades (I recommend clear and So Into It) and applies like a dream. It gives lips that wet look without being oily or sticky, and takes any makeup look to the next level."
"From the moment I smelled this spicy-sweet perfume, I knew I'd found my signature scent (which is a serious commitment, considering I typically wear nothing at all). It makes me feel like a boss whenever I wear it, and I'm not ashamed to admit bringing it up randomly in conversation for no reason at all."

"I'm a huge fan of acid-based exfoliation, and this natural serum is a (non-irritating!) example of why: It sloughs off dead skin cells, creating brighter, smoother, more even-toned skin after just a few uses. And it's so gentle you can use it every day, even as the weather gets cooler."
"This 'solid' lip gloss made the cut as one of my Editors' Picks this summer because it's just such an innovative formula. It begins as a balm-like stick, but as you swipe it on, it melts into a non-sticky, high-shine gloss — a major upgrade from the tar-like early-aughts version I wore throughout my pre-teen years. And it's addictively fun to use."
Siraad Dirshe, Beauty Editor, Essence
"Summer in New York means lots of humidity, so I’ve been swearing by this product from Ouidad for the summer."

"I don't know how I survived without it before. To end my nightly skincare routine, I pat this potion into my face instead of using a cream moisturizer. When I wake up, my skin looks so vibrant and feels plump and hydrated — benefits we want year round, but especially in the cooler months! My skin just looks healthier overall since using it. It also smells very soothing, so it helps calm me for a good night's rest. And even though I'm going to bed and nobody will see my face, I like the glow it gives me."
"This is so hard, but the makeup I'll continue wearing throughout fall and beyond is Fenty Beauty's Moscow Mule highlighter and Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio. Can you tell I love highlighter? I love how beautiful and fresh the mauve-ish Moscow Mule is because it still feels natural even though it's super pigmented, and I love the richness of the Bronze Nectar shade in the Pat McGrath trio. I often wear them both on my cheekbones, and also on my clavicles and shoulders if they're exposed. I'm all about shiny, rich-looking skin. Just because it's dull outside doesn't mean your skin has to be, okurrrr?!"
"I'm actually super sensitive to fragrances so I don't wear them, but the closest thing would probably be body oils, which I'm super into. Currently I love Mystic Rose Hydrating Body Oil by SDOT Beauty. Skin isn't as vibrant in the fall, so I especially love body oils that time of year because it gives you a nice, natural glow."

"Pat McGrath is living proof that Mother really does know best. The sheer amount of pigment and shine each shade in this palette, to be released Sep. 7, 2018, packs is truly unbelievable. This combination of hues is also the perfect bridge between summer and fall color palettes."
"I'm a bleach girl through and through, so my hair needs all the help it can get. Thankfully, Nexxus' Keraphix hair mask keeps up with my dye antics, and at only $5 a pop, justifying this purchase in addition to my $300+ hair transformation doesn't seem so bad. Kind of."
"I normally never have strong opinions about fragrances, but Jo Malone's latest Honeysuckle & Davana Cologne is one I'll sing to the high heavens about any day. The scent is meant to mimic the feel of a glorious day amongst the honeysuckle growing in the English countryside, which makes me feel like I didn't just get dripped on by whatever mysterious fluid is leaking from the New York City sky."

"I will use anything that makes my hair feel this soft and healthy and smells like a green apple Jolly Rancher for ever and ever. I loved using this in the summer and in the fall, I know it will work just as great, while the green apple scent will make me feel, at least for a little bit, that it is still summer."
"My new favorite eyeliner pen. What I love about Fenty is that a lot of their releases have become new staples for me, and I think that's a testament to how genius her band is. I've used this liner for almost each and every winged look I've done this summer, so I see no reason to stop. Thanks, Rih!"
"I wear a number of fragrances. My standby is Elizabeth and James Nirvana White (which I've used since it launched). I also really like Stella McCartney Pop Bluebell, even though the smell doesn't last all day. It's definitely a spring/summer scent but I give exactly zero effs because it smells so good."
