5 Reasons We Already Love Gucci’s New Creative Director

In terms of fashion news, today brought a doozy: Gucci confirmed the appointment of its new creative director, Alessandro Michele, who has been with the iconic Italian fashion house since 2002. Straight out of the gates, he’s making an impact via his debut men’s collection which came down the Milan runway on Monday. We wanted to get to know the most-buzzed-about man in fashion a little better so we did our due diligence and liked what we discovered. Here, 5 reasons we can’t wait to see what Alessandro will bring to our beloved Gucci.

Good Under Pressure

Alessandro's debut as Creative Director for Gucci came in the form of the Fall 2015 Men's show in Milan this week. With only a few days to prepare, he turned out a boundary-pushing spectacle of a show, chock-full of beautiful male models rocking pussybow blouses.

Accessories Master

In 2011 Alessandro was appointed the head of accessories at the house, so we have him to blame for our credit card debt and long wish list of gorgeous Gucci bags.

We're super impressed by Alessandro's long, illustrious career at Gucci (more than 12 years and counting). Our favorite part? In 2002 he was handpicked by Tom Ford himself for a design position in the Gucci London office.

Knows An Icon Bag

Before joining Gucci, Alessandro was an accessories designer at Fendi. Ever heard of a baguette bag? Yeah, that phenomenon happened during his tenure.

In Charge Of All Collections

In his new role, Alessandro is in charge of all Gucci collections. We're holding our breath in anticipation of his first women's ready-to-wear show at the end of February. Hopefully he'll channel some of the sexy androgyne he sent down the runway in Milan into his women's collection.
