For Rachel’s Resort 2016 collection, the idea of a carefree, globe-trotting woman inspired everything from the luxurious fabrics and the glam, ’70s silhouettes to the dance floor-ready accessories. Here, a behind-the-scenes look at Rachel’s design process from start to finish. Be sure to check out the complete look book right here and shop the collection when it hits stores in October.
Inside The Design Studio With Rachel
The Inspiration
The carefree sensibility of the late '70s was the inspiration behind this collection. Marisa Berenson—known for her tousled hair and effortless style—was Rachel's muse.
The Fabrics
Rachel zeroed in on super-luxe materials like fox fur, lamé, silk and suede in a palette of rich, very '70s hues.
The Accessories
Rachel loved this strappy, barely-there heel in every color imaginable. The easy-to-wear silhouette adds glamour to tailored separates and voluminous gowns.
Styling The Collection
More was more when it came to daytime looks but Rachel let the nighttime pieces stand alone, styling them with nothing but bare legs and strappy sandals.
The Photo Shoot
Joey Maalouf was charged with coming up with a beauty look to complement the collection. He opted for smoldering eye makeup and tousled, day-after waves.
The Look Book
Rachel's 32-outfit look book dropped yesterday and has us dreaming of glamorous wardrobe upgrades for every category in our closet.
