Designer Riccardo Tisci created big buzz when he leaked photos of his upcoming collaboration with Nike on Instagram (@riccardotisci17). Now, on the eve of their release, we’re bringing you the deets. The legendary sports brand has tapped the Givenchy designer to bring a high-fashion spin to their iconic basketball shoe, the Air Force 1. More than just a shoe, the style’s gained crossover appeal, from the bigger names on the court to its current street style appeal.
Tisci took the classic style and gave it a spin all his own. “I travel all over the world, and I see people wearing the Air Force 1. And they wear it so many different ways,” the designer said via release. “The Air Force 1 is not about gender, it’s not about a particular city, nor is it about a certain style. The community decides. It’s democratic. It’s love.” And he’s showing major love with 4 distinct styles that are sure to find their way to some street style snaps soon. The collection includes Lo, Mid, Hi and Boot styles that feature that undeniable swoosh and Tisci’s own orange, yellow, blue and brown detailing. We may not be heading to the courts, but these shoes will prove we’ve got game.
Availability: Nike + R.T. Air Force 1 will be released in two packs, beginning March, 2014, available at select Nike retailers worldwide.
