What’s With The Blue Ribbon Showing Up On The Red Carpet?

You may have watched all the stunning gowns float down the Oscars red carpet, along with the gorgeous jewels and amazing beauty looks—and maybe you also noticed a little blue detail on some attendees, from Karlie Kloss to Ruth Negga to Busy Phillips. So what is this blue decal they donned? A ribbon in support of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), a non-profit organization that works to defend the civil liberties guaranteed by the US Constitution. Models and nominees weren’t the only A-Listers sporting the blue ribbon either; the creator of Broadway’s smash hit Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, wore it in support also, while Brie Larson posted an Instagram of her ribbon earlier in the day. It’s a red-carpet statement we definitely weren’t expecting, and we can’t wait to see who else chooses to wear blue in the future.
