Pretty Ponytail Á La Cushnie Et Ochs

by Stephanie Montes

We’re still swooning over the sleek and contemporary ponytail we spotted at Cushnie et Ochs’ Spring 2015 Fashion Show. Moroccanoil’s Antonio Corral Calero is the man responsible for uberwearable, easy-to-emulate hairstyle inspired by “Cleopatra in the desert sunset”. We loved it so much we decided to show you how to get the look.

We teamed up with our friends at DreamDry–New York's premier hair destination cofounded by our EIC, Rachel Zoe–to recreate the fab ponytail. Follow our step-by-step tutorial for the most on-trend style right now.

Straighten

If you have curly hair, flyaways or breakage, smooth out the hairline by blow-drying out and up with a comb.

Apply a heat protectant to hair and straighten from root to tips.

To get the sleekest hair possible, simultaneously run a comb ahead of your straightener.

Create The Ponytail

Work in a gel or styling cream to smooth any flyaways.

For an all-aroundsleek pony, tilt head back while pulling hair into the elastic. This will keep hair from the base to the nape of the neck flat and free of bubbles.

Secure with an elastic and tame any flyaways with a shine-enhancing spray.

Hide The Elastic

Grab a small section of hair from underneath the pony and wrap around the elastic.

To keep the hair in place all day long , wrap the end of this section around a bobby pin before securing .

Finish with hairspray.

Add Character

Tie a thin elastic two inches down from the base of the tail.

Pin the elastic to the back of the head and secure by crossing two additional pins o ver .

Polish off the look with a shine spray.

The Finished Look

For Daytime: Add some edge to a pair of skinny jeans, a comfy tee and slouchy boots.

For Night: Add polish to your little black dress and a bold lip.
