How To Pull Off Fall’s Vampy Lip
First he taught you how to get this fall’s sultry cat-eye—now he’s back, this time with the perfect vampy lip! Drumroll, please, for Team Zoe’s Joey Maalouf as he recreates this season’s runway-favorite berry pucker.
The Perfect Pucker:
Inspired by the deeply-hued lips seen on Vera Wang, Dolce & Gabbana and Zac Posen’s Fall 2013 runways, Joey recreated this vampy look to rock in real life!
Get The Look:
Pencil In The Perfect Lip!
After applying your base color (Joey used MAC Lipstick in Cyber on our gorgeous model Alicia), go back over the application with a pencil, filling out and perfecting the edges of the lip.
Create Your Perfect Shade
To create a bit of an ombre effect, Joey used a lighter, brighter shade of red atop the deep plum—but just to the inside of Alicia’s lips. The end result? A more toned-down, approachable color applied in a way that makes your pucker really pop!
Bold Brows, Please!
Fill In With A Tinted Gel
To bring full attention to the face, brush your brows upward with a tinted gel—think: your very best Cara Delevingne impression.
Contour Your Cheeks
Put the finishing touches on a fancy face with a bit of contour! Sculpt out chiseled cheekbones with a flick of contouring powder, avoiding products with overtly orange tones. Remember, you’re trying to create depth—bronzers with warmth and shimmer won’t have that effect! Then apply Dior’s subtle highlighter just atop the cheekbones for dazzling results.
Pucker Up, Baby!
Joey’s #1 tip? “How to wear a dark lip? Confidence.” Amen!
