Worst yet, you’re putting makeup on in the car and suddenly there is foundation all over your shirt? We get it. When the makeup fun gets a little messy, you need a plan of attack. Here, our tips for getting beauty-product stains out of your wardrobe. Just because you’re a little clumsy doesn’t mean you should have to bid your favorite pieces adieu.
Get Those Stains Out
The Stain: Lipstick
The Solution: Hairspray
Spray directly onto the stain and let sit for 10-15 minutes before throwing it into the washer.
The Stain: Nail Polish
The Solution: Packing Tape
Let the spill dry completely and use a clear packing tape to lift polish right off the fabric.
The Stain: Self-Tanner
The Solution: Hydrogen Peroxide
Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and gently rub the area in circular motions.
The Stain: Foundation
The Solution: Shaving Cream
Apply directly onto the stain and rub it in before throwing in the washer.
The Stain: Hair Dye
The Solution: Alcohol
Blot with an alcohol-soaked rag until the stain comes out completely.
The Stain: Body Oil
The Solution: Baby Powder
Coat the stain with a thick layer of powder to soak up the oil. Throw in the washer.
