When not fixing DC’s debacles on Scandal, the gorgeous Kerry Washington is apparently hard at work designing handbags. This week, the actress unveiled her first accessory—the fruit of a collaboration with designer Dee Ocleppo (aka Tommy Hilfiger’s wife) and Allstate Foundation— at a party in New York City.

Why a handbag, and why now? Washington’s creation, called the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse, was created to heighten awareness of domestic violence. Washington is a spokesperson for the foundation, and now her stunning violet clutch is a beacon for the cause.

The grape-hue handbag features a crocodile-embossed pattern, rose gold hardware and suede lining, with a removable chain shoulder strap. It retails for $350, exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue, with 25% of the proceeds going to Allstate Foundation’s efforts to wipe out domestic abuse.
