As you probably know, Smashbox's original Photo Finish primer is a bit of an icon. With thousands of glowing reviews (and a handful of awards) across the internet, the primer undoubtedly made a name for itself in the beauty community — and kick-started an entire Smashbox Photo Finish primer collection. And once again, the beauty brand has expanded the fan favorite, adding the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer to the collection's ranks. The timing of the release couldn't be more perfect, too; the cult-famous primer's new formula was created specifically to mattify any midday shininess, even on the hottest summer days.

Better yet, the beauty brand took to its official Instagram account June 25 to announce one key detail: The primer claims that it can keep your skin matte (aka shine free) for a whopping 12 hours. You won't be paying much more for the added bonus, either — the Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer retails at $39, making it only slightly more expensive than the original $36 Photo Finish formula.

And it may be well worth the extra $3 to you. The Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer is formulated with a bevy of skin-calming ingredients not included in the first one, like witch hazel water, salicylic acid, and zinc.

Chances are you recognize a few of those names from your own skincare routine. And while salicylic acid and zinc are both commonly used to reduce oil and acne, the addition of witch hazel may be the most exciting one of the three; you may already be using the ingredient to tone and tighten your skin.

Of course, the recently-released primer will give you the same benefits as the rest of Smashbox's Photo Finish collection, as well. With just one thin layer, applied before your foundation, your makeup will last longer, look smoother, and stay in place for hours. (No wonder the OG Photo Finish primer has more than 4,500 perfect reviews at Sephora.)
