Summer might be flying by faster than you would like it to, but that doesn't mean your beach getaways are completely gone. Almost as difficult as deciding where to go is choosing what to bring with you. The key to packing light? Look for multitasking pieces. Case in point: Olivia Culpo's perfect black crochet cover-up, worn on her latest vacay, which is guaranteed to be the smartest item in your suitcase. While it looks cute over a bikini, it also can double as a night-out dress when worn with heels so you can truly get the best of both worlds.

Culpo is currently in the midst of what seems like a never-ending vacation. After jetting off to Mexico with her best friend and designer Devon Windsor at the beginning of the month, she's been posting a slew of sultry beach shots to her Instagram profile showing off so many stunning bikini looks in the process. Most recently, the model posted a photo on August 12 that showed off what she prefers to wear over her favorite swimwear, and it might be her best choice yet.

The entrepreneur snapped a shot in a black crochet cover-up that you need to add to your shopping list ASAP. She styled her Shaycation x Revolve pick over a black triangle-style bikini with mesh detailing. Culpo added a much-needed pop of color to her ensemble in the form of shiny gold jewelry courtesy of APM Monaco. Her hair and makeup looks were in full-glam mode as well, complete with a dramatic winged eyeliner and Instagram-ready brows.

Think of Culpo's dress as the summery update to the sleek sheer frocks that the Kardashians have been wearing for months now. Plus, the laid-back knit design was massive at the Spring/Summer 2019 shows. Crochet-style patterns popped up at designer runway shows like Chloé, where the pieces featured laid back cut-outs across the shoulder, and at Alberta Ferretti, where they were styled as beach-y, pastel separates.

Netted coverups specifically are perfect for a quick trip because of how versatile they are. Not only are they perfect for snapping some pool-side photos when layered over a bikini, but they can also look super edgy when worn over a slip — or just some monochrome undergarments — for a night out. Keep the look in a consistent color by adding a strappy stiletto heel in your color du jour, and you’ll be good to to go.

Luckily, you don't have to stick to a simple black piece in order to emulate Culpo's look. Adding some color can add a major pop to your vacation closet, especially if your swimsuit preferences lean more on the simple or neutral side. Brands like My Beachy Side have the prettiest selection of rainbow hues while Nasty Gal makes a barely there beaded pick in a trendy rose color. Better yet, all-white alternatives from CHIO or Pretty Little Thing will perfectly highlight your end-of-summer glow.
