Naomi Watts Wore A Trench Coat In The Dead Of Summer & Pulled It Off Perfectly
Hope you didn't pack all your outerwear away for the season because you're going to need it for the cool summer nights ahead. Now that New York City's heat wave is officially over, it's time to break out the extra layers because once you're used to that 3 p.m. sun, the 10 p.m. breeze can feel mighty chilly. Naomi Watts' black trench coat is just the thing.
This British actor has been busy doing press for her new film, Luce, lately, stopping by the set of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Weds. to participate in his hilarious "Whisper Challenge."
Watts arrived at 30 Rock in a lacey Oscar de la Renta dress with a high-low hem layered under a sleek black trench. Now, you might be thinking: "How do these 80-degree temperatures warrant a trench?" Well, she's Naomi Watts and she can do whatever she wants because she's The Cutest™.
In all seriousness, though, Watt's jacket is actually lightweight enough to be worn throughout a New York City summer (and that's saying something!). It's made of silky satin, the same material as the slip dress you save for hot days, and hits below the knees. The layer features a belted waist and extra-wide lapels, lending to a robe-like shape.
Consider this breezy satin duster a year-round staple, ideal for moody spring days and summer nights all the same. It hails from Thai brand Vatanika's Resort 2019 collection and is currently in stock for less than $1,000, which is a fair splurge for such a timeless piece (seriously, when is a black trench coat ever going to go out of style?).
Later in the evening, Watts swapped her lacey Oscar de la Renta number for a sequin-adorned checked Preen by Thorton Bregazzi dress for the film premiere at the Whitby Hotel. Perhaps she had her trusty trench tucked away while she posed on the red carpet there, too.
Copy her look with Watts' exact jacket and others like it, ahead.
