The next time you can't decide on an outfit, look towards a midi-length satin skirt. Not only are they perfect for layering as the weather cools, but they're easiest way to look effortless and polished all at once. And if you haven't found your match made in skirt heaven just yet, prepare to scoop up Katherine McPhee's leopard skirt immediately, because it's the edgy-but-sweet piece you've been looking for all along.

McPhee was photographed wearing her own take on the trend while she was out running errands in Los Angeles on Oct. 18. The singer opted for a red leopard midi skirt by celebrity-favorite designer Anine Bing. Bing is known for her "soft meets hard" design approach, in which she seamlessly blends femininity with a rock and roll twist.

She paired the bold piece with a black, ribbed crop top that showed just a bit of her mid-drift. The singer accessorized with pointed, black ankle boots and a crossbody bag featuring a gold-chain strap. McPhee wore her piecey bob in a sleek, straight style with wispy bangs in the front, finishing off the on-the-go look with cat-eye sunglasses. The best accessory of all? McPhee walked the streets with her tiny dog in hand, sporting a matching red leash, of course.

McPhee proved just how wearable the skirt really is, no matter the occasion. She was photographed the night before, on Oct. 17, wearing the same skirt for a slightly dressier occasion.

At the opening of Jennifer Meyer Jewelry in Palisades Village, McPhee paired the piece with a satin camisole and a long, black cardigan draped over her shoulders. Rather than opting for a casual shoe choice, she wore pointed, red knee-high boots instead.

As McPhee proves so well, satin midi skirts are an easy win for fall and winter looks — regardless of your itinerary. Ahead, shop The Zoe Report's favorite pieces of the season, including McPhee's exact Anine Bing skirt.
