It's around this time of summer that wardrobe fatigue starts to kick in. You've worn your beloved new purchases into the ground and the temperatures are showing no signs of dropping anytime soon. Which is why a brand new mid-summer style drop is heaven sent, particularly when it includes whimsical pieces that'll put a little extra spring in your step. Newly LA-based designer Jonathan Simkhai created a capsule collection exclusively for Shopbop, all retailing for under $395, for this exact reason. The designer, known for his sultry lace dresses and sharp separates, ventured into more playful territory for the collaboration.

"When you're on vacation you want to feel free and have fun, you're not worried about being all business, which is the perfect opportunity for more effortless pieces," says Simkhai. While his main collection embraces rich hues, the bursts of color and fruit print in this collection are a departure from his norm. I asked him if living in LA, undoubtedly more color-centric than his previous home of NY, influenced the palette. He glanced jokingly at his royal blue trousers and conceded that yes, color has certainly seeped into his world since moving to California. But what about the on-trend print choice? "Fruit prints are so joyful and vibrant, so it was great to play with them in this capsule because we haven't before," he explains. "Overall I wanted to create pieces that encapsulate the feeling of vacation, are casual and can be worn everywhere," says Simkhai. He succeeded.

Here, the Citrus Bloom collection and where to wear it.

Night Out

The ruffled bodice, ruching and flared hemline of this flirty mini dress makes it perfect for a date or night out with friends. Simply team it with flat sandals, a neon manicure and bold earrings, or up the ante with a strappy heeled sandal.

For Hosting

Next time you host rooftop drinks or a backyard barbecue, pair this long-sleeved mini dress with your favorite sneakers for a functional yet adorable outfit for entertaining. Top with a military jacket and a crossbody bag if you head out afterwards.

For Sightseeing

Whether you're touring the sights or heading out on a boat trip, this vintage-inspired romper will keep you cool and comfortable. The structured silhouette would also look great under an oversized linen blazer or with heels for impromptu drinks.

For The Office Or Errands

The Corsica Ruched Top features off-the-moment puff sleeves and a demure neckline ideal for the office. Wear it with white trousers or a navy Bermuda short for a summery alternative to your everyday uniform. For the weekend, pair it with the coordinated shorts for brunch and errands. Ground the sweet set with a pair of chunky, rugged sandals and a bucket hat.

For A Wedding

A vibrant, long-sleeved wrap dress is ideal for a summer wedding where the temperatures are sure to vary from a sun-dappled ceremony to a late-night alfresco dance floor. Add polish with heeled sandals and a sleek clutch.
