Before marrying into royal status, The Duchess of Sussex was a much more accessible celebrity. She appeared on screen in the popular series Suits, in movies like Horrible Bosses and Remember Me, and even gave the public an intimate glimpse into her personal life with her (now defunct) lifestyle blog The Tig. It's unsurprising, then, that one of her latest ventures comes in the form of an old passion: cooking. Yes, Meghan Markle is dropping a cookbook in a matter of days — and it's surprisingly affordable.

According to an announcement from Kensington Palace on Mon., Markle is supporting Together: Our Community Kitchen a collection of recipes that emphasize the relationship between community and cuisine.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Hubb Community Kitchen in West London, a gathering place and cooking destination where women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire meet to prepare meals for their community. Inspired by the sharing of cooking tips, stories, and support at the Hubb Community Kitchen, the book will share more than 50 recipes from its members.

Ahead, The Zoe Report breaks down everything you need to know about Markle's cookbook — including the release date, the inspiring message behind the recipes, and so much more.

The Cause

Following the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017 that left over 200 people homeless, The Hubb Community Kitchen began as an offshoot of the Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in West London, aiming to bring women together who no longer had kitchens to cook meals for their families and friends.

After visiting the kitchen earlier this year and noticing its lack of funding, Markle — who has joined her husband Prince Harry in his philanthropic efforts — set out on a mission to provide the space with aid. Proceeds from the book will help Hubb Community Kitchen remain open seven days a week.

The Release Date

If you're already sold and excited to begin cooking meals inspired by the Duchess herself, you only have to wait about a week for the book's release. Beginning Sept. 25, the cookbook, which includes a foreword by Markle, will be available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble for $16.99.

The Background

Markle noted that she felt an immediate connection to the Hubb Community Kitchen following her initial visit in January. "I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together," Markle wrote in the Royal Foundation's official statement.

"Melding cultural identities under a shared roof, it creates a space to feel a sense of normalcy — in its simplest form, the universal need to connect, nurture, and commune through food, through crisis or joy – something we can all relate to," the Duchess of Sussex added. "Through this charitable endeavour, the proceeds will allow the kitchen to thrive and keep the global spirit of community alive."
