Farfetch's Vintage Handbag Selection Now Includes This Cult-Favorite Chanel Style

by Aemilia Madden

Online retailer Farfetch has a wide-flung number of boutiques it works with to curate ultra-covetable luxury finds. Tokyo-based vintage boutique Amore is one of them. It boasts a roster of lust worthy labels including Chanel, Prada, Dior, and Hermès, offering up ultra-rare designs that you can purchase no matter what country you reside in. Farfetch and Amore enlisted Karla Welch to curate handbags that hold special meaning for her. The celebrity stylist is known for putting the coolest brands on roster of clients that includes Tracee Ellis Ross, Olivia Wilde, and even Justin Bieber. But beyond her of-the-moment expertise, she has a masterful knowledge of how to reimagine iconic pieces from the past in a new way.

For the Amore Vintage collab, Welch hand-picked a number of the most notable bag styles from 1994 all the way to the early aughts that are worth of investing in right now and hold a sense of nostalgia for her too. "“I remember getting my first [Louis Vuitton] Speedy," she tells TZR. "I felt like I’d made it!”

Beyond her own favorite throwback pieces Welch highlights era-defining shapes like the Fendi baguette: “I just think it was the first IT bag," she notes. "That makes it timeless. It triggers memories for people!” She adds that styling can help transform these classic styles for the modern age. Take the Louis Vuitton collaboration with Takashi Murakami. “I’d love it with a modern power suit," she suggests. "Something to contradict the sweetness and sexual under tones of the cherries! Or maybe add it.”
