12 New Bold Nail Polish Colors To Try For Spring 2019 If You’re Tired Of Neutrals
It's pretty common to gravitate toward neutral nail colors in the winter, especially when you're in the thick of a daily routine and aren't apt to changing things up. But with creative nail art taking the lead, and bright, vivid colors (hello, slime green) dominating the runways for spring, it might be time to give a new bold nail polish colors a test run.
As the weather warms up, it seems like glitter is everywhere — not that sparkle ever goes out of style. "Whether as an accent nail or full set, glitter makes a bold statement," celebrity manicurist Gina Edwards says. "It's definitely an empowerment color."
Toxin-free polish brand Butter London noticed their consumers need for bolder nail choices and expanded their offerings, too. "Today, nail art has truly become the ultimate fashion accessory where there are endless options of lacquer shades and formulas to fuel the consumer’s desire for fun, artsy, or dramatic looks," Julie Campbell, general manager for the brand, tells TZR. "Our Peel-Off Glitter Nail Lacquer is a first of its kind water-based formula that delivers long-lasting performance, high shine, and peels off cleanly and easily without the need for acetone."
Other brands like Deborah Lippmann are also taking inspiration from day-to-day life, and using it to fuel ideas for bolder polish choices. “I was in California this summer and it was an incredibly sunny day, you know, when rays of sunshine bounce off mirrored windows and zigzag their way through the streets," Lippmann tells TZR. "You could feel the energy that day... it felt like a fresh start. Everything around me had a pink cast and I thought, 'I want to capture those radiating colors and put them in my bottles.'"
