Mansur Gavriel’s Spring 2016 Collection Is Mind-Blowing

by Cary Spitzer

Walking into the Mansur Gavriel presentation at NYFW the other day felt like walking into an art gallery circa the 1990s: Lining the pristine room were shelves stocked with brightly colored chunky platform slides and sandals, hard-case circular handbags and oversize clutches, while models lounged in mod baby-doll dresses sipping Champagne. The event marked the introduction of the must-have bag line’s new shoe collection, a range consisting of 4 silhouettes, 5 heel heights and 16 color options. Also on hand were the hotter-than-hot brand’s cool-girl carryalls, including the ubiquitous bucket bag (which sells out as quickly as it is restocked). Founders Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel are slowly veering into new fashion territory with the shoes, and while the models were also decked in dresses by the duo, those sadly won’t be available for a while.

Though the pretty dresses made especially for the preview aren't yet available to shop, the brand's first foray into ready-to-wear is already being hailed a success thanks to its mod silhouettes and bold color palette.

'70s-inspired colors like blush and cinnamon added softness to the super-luxe construction and strong proportions of Mansur Gavriel's spring accessories.

When not mingling with buyers and bloggers, founders Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel watched the reactions to their new collection with calm confidence.

Expect to see lots of head-to-toe coordination this spring thanks to the irresistible bag-shoe combos, available in a whopping 16 colors.

We're calling it early: This circle-shaped satchel will be the It bag for Spring 2016.
