Kim Kardashian Opens Up About The Pressure To Get Married By 30

It’s been three years since Kim Kardashian and Kanye West exchanged vows, but some of us still remember that 72-day episode when the reality star and basketball player Kris Humphries were legally a thing. As the world tuned in to the demise of their relationship, Kim unfortunately bore the brunt of many a failed marriage meme—and now she’s revealed that the public’s sentiment over her doomed marriage was actually hers, as well.

The leading Kardashian recently sat down with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, and revealed the details behind her short-lived nuptials—even going so far as to admit that she married Kris for the wrong reasons.

“I just thought, ‘Holy s–t, I’m 30 years old. I better get this together. I better get married,'” she said. “I think a lot of girls do go through that, where they freak out thinking they’re getting old and they have to figure it out; all their friends are having kids. It was more of that situation. But I knew [on the] honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.”

It’s a pretty relatable story for the rest of us—from holiday parties where Grandma questions when you plan to settle down with Mr. Right, to scrolling through your Facebook feed only to find another childhood friend is walking down the aisle. Hopefully Kim’s confession will make us all a little less susceptible to the constant pressure to get hitched before hitting our 30s.
