Vested Interest

Every now and then, we all fall victim to a habitual outfit routine. You know…wearing a variation of the same thing each day. Snooze. There is nothing wrong with having a go-to getup, but fashion is all about play, so today I urge you to step out of your comfort zone. One of the best ways to do this is through a menswear-inspired piece—particularly a vest. They have been a runway favorite for the past few seasons, and right now I am stuck on this one from Yves Saint Laurent.

With gathers on the front and a single-button closure, it is an instant classic in anyone’s wardrobe. Obvi YSL never lets me down. With this waistcoat as your muse, I advise you to dig out a like-minded vest from your boyfriend or dad’s closet…who doesn’t want to borrow from the boys? Throw it on over a white blouse, ripped jeans and combat boots for a I didn’t try too hard, but I know what I’m doing daytime look, then take a sexy-by-night approach by wearing the same vest under a tuxedo jacket with nothing underneath. xoRZ
